Pocket Popcorn!

This thing looks awesome!

I have some questions that might just be quickly answered;

  • how CHIP related is this?
  • which SoC is the pocketpopcorn using?
  • are there any GPIOs accessible?
  • does any USB-C port offer AltMode DP?

Thanks! Looking forward to May 2020

Hi @buZz
Thanks for your questions.

Here’s our response:

  • C.H.I.P. is not related to Pocket P.C. Our Original Popcorn Computer and Kettlepop are derivatives of C.H.I.P. which was Open Hardware. Pocket P.C. is a completely new design.

  • Currently, we have selected the Allwinner A64 SoC for Pocket P.C.

  • There are currently no GPIOs accessible except for STLink programming pins for the Keyboard/Backlight Controller.

  • We need to do further testing of this function before we can definitively say that it will be included in the final design. This is why we did not explicitly state it in the specifications. However, HDMI output will be available.

Hi. I see the pre-orders are open but I’m having trouble with the site. I don’t seem to be able to login, and on mobile browsers the prices of the non-Lora unit vs. the Lora unit seem to be reversed.

Never mind. Fixed it.

Thank you for the heads-up @peacehippie!

No GPIOs accessible
No USB-TypeA
No Audio 3.5mm
